Hola!
How are y'all? The MTC is pretty awesome its just a lot of information this first week. I hear after Sunday the days go by a lot quicker because you are sort of used to the schedule and its not so new anymore. My companion is pretty nice. His name is Elder Martell. He's, 6'4" red hair, and picks up on Spanish pretty quick. He has a little bit of insomnia so he mopes around a little bit during the day but we have companionship inventory where we talk about stuff like that and it really helps us to work better with each other. We share a room with another companionship and I'm here with one of them, Elder Stermetz, on an exhange for the few hours that we have for a mini P-Day. The other elder is Elder Peterson who served in the marines for a couple years and figured he should serve a mission to take a little break from service. He is pretty funny because he has all this military vocab and he' pretty easy going since this is paradise compared to marines. Spanish is coming back to me a little bit quicker than I expected. We are starting with our testimony and prayer in Spanish and we always sing hymns en Espanol. The gym is closed so we are outside playing 4 square most of the time when we have gym time. It's nice to play outside but I would still definently rather play basketball! Oh well, maybe its a blessing for all of us elders because i hear it can get pretty intense and teachers see elders bandaged and wrapped up from injuries all the time. Elder Martell is my senior companion and our district leader is Elder Reed. He has a really strong testimony and he's from Alaska. I'm happy I can focus on learning the language and learning the gospel and not so much about a leadership position right now. My P-day will be on Fridays after this week so thats the only time I can write and email but feel free to write letters anytime because I can read them when I get them.
As the weeks go by I'll be able to tell a little bit more about classes and what I've learned but I thought I'd sort of tell y'all the basics this week! We only have 30 minutes and I'm not the world's fastest typer so thats all I have!
Love,
Elder Gregory
(Can you forward this part to Julia?) If you could forward the top part to the family and whoever I'd appreciate it!
Thanks for the letter Julia! Keep using that because its a whole lot faster and I can read it right when I get it instead of waiting all week to check email. It really is like Christmas when I get letters! Thats hilarious what Josh said- that's definentely something he would say! Tell him to write me with the dearelder so I can hear how he's doing muy rapido! (They tell us to use Spanish as much as we can when we talk.) Thanks for that commitment of reading the scriptures. I haven't ever read so much in such a short time as I have these last few days. Keep the letters coming! Tell me funny stuff that Kate and Gracie do! I have those pictures hanging up close to my bed and its always refreshing to look at them and it gives me a little bit more inspiration to work harder.
