Not a whole lot to report on this week. It feels like yesterday I was typing an email cause the days are so quick!
In four days another district is leaving and they are all real cool. The last week that people are here in the MTC they have "teach week" where you only have one hour of class instruction a day. The rest of the day you have scheduled appts. with whoever you can find to teach. So, a few companionships from the district that is leaving have taught Elder Martell and I. It seems like they are so far ahead of us but in reality, they are only five weeks ahead! Their spanish is real smooth and they bring out a lot of good points in ways I've never really thought of in the lessons.
This morning we went to the bookstore so Elder Martell could pick some pictures up and so I could get some more stamps and we met this one Elder from Chile. His name is Elder Mora and he's actually from Concepcion which is in my mission. He reported the same day as I did and his English is amazing! He said that he really didn't learn any English before he came but just being around everyone speaking English sort of forced him to learn it really fast. We talked for a few minutes and he reiderated how much work there is to be done in Concepcion after the earthquake and how humble the people are right now.
We had a devotional last Tuesday on how the gospel "makes sense." He went through ten questions that we will probably get asked like... "Is there a God? Is the Book of Mormon true? Was Jesus Christ the Son of God?" He had some really good points like for example as far as "Is there a God?", he talked about the example of a tennis player having to judge how far away the ball is to return a serve, have his brain tell his arm where and how hard to swing, and exert a certain force on the ball. I'm not great at explaining all that but it just goes to show that- how could this world be a coincidence? And how could our bodies just make themselves be able to do all these things? It just "doesn't make sense" as he repeated all throughout his talk. He also said that how could a man with an elementary education write the Book of Mormon with one draft. It just "doesn't make sense." He was guided by the Lord.
It's hard to look back and say that I've already been on my mission for three weeks! I only have a little more than 23 months left! I'd better get to work!
Love y'all
Elder Gregory
P.S.- I'm going to send a few pics to Julia and Ian today and maybe somehow they can get them on the computer to share with whoever.
